On Tuesday 9th February, Happy and Epic CIC hosted the 2016 Transforming the Public Sector Conference at Kensington Town Hall in London. The conference focused on encouraging change within the public sector to improve staff engagement, happiness, and productivity, with real life examples from the speakers. We heard from June O’Sullivan MBE with ideas about how to keep your staff happy, Brendan O’Keefe of Epic CIC with advice on hiring for attitude and how to re-motivate staff, and lessons from the private sector from Dom Monkhouse of iomart. Rekha Mehr of MassChallenge UK and Dr Sally Howes of the National Audit Office also spoke about the struggles of creating change in the public sector, and how they have sparked innovation and change within their respective organisations. Henry Stewart of Happy shared five ways to improve customer satisifaction, as well as how happy workplaces can result in better outcomes for patients.
