Happy’s leadership apprenticeship programmes are now more inclusive than ever

We believe that great leadership training should be available to everyone. We're excited to announce that there have been significant changes to apprenticeship programmes that make our Leadership Apprenticeship Programmes more inclusive and accessible than ever before.

Hi, we are Happy

We are leading a movement to create happy, empowered and productive workplaces.

How can we help you and your people to find joy in at least 80% of your work?

English and Maths qualifications are no longer required

One of the most significant changes came into effect on 11th February 2025. Apprentices over 18 years old are no longer required to complete English and Maths qualifications as part of their apprenticeship (unless their employer choses to require it).

This removes what has previously been a major barrier for many — the stress of studying English and Maths alongside the programme or trying to find old school certificates. We hope that this will encourage more people to join an apprenticeship programme.

Refreshed programme outlines

In September 2024, we completely revamped our course outlines. This was to fit them in line with new apprenticeship standards as well as to update the materials to be more inclusive.

All of our leadership apprenticeship programmes now include:

  • A greater Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) focus, with dedicated sections integrated throughout every course;
  • More diverse and ethical leadership theories that better reflect the modern workplace;
  • Incorporation of successful elements from our Happy Leadership programmes for private inhouse groups.

Specialised programmes to meet different needs

Different groups face different, unique challenges in leadership. To support these groups better, we have developed specialised versions of our Level 3 and Level 5 programmes, including:

  • Dedicated empowerment programmes for emerging leaders from the Global Majority at Level 3 and Level 5;
  • Programmes specifically designed for women in leadership (with a free session available for International Women’s Day);
  • Programmes for people developing or running a successful campaign at work in our Leading Change programme.

These programmes run alongside our standard Level 3 and Level 5 programmes, ensuring we meet the needs of all aspiring and established leaders.
